About THE AUTHOR

Dave Case spent thirty-one years with the Chicago Police Department. He’s a graduate of Saint Xavier University and holds a Master’s degree from Northwestern Graduate School’s program for Creative Writing.

Dave considers himself a child of the Midwest, having been born in Indiana and lived there through the 2nd grade before his family move to Illinois for a few years. Ultimately, the Case family landed in the Twin Cities where he stayed for 6th grade well into college. He admits that he drifted a bit, not sure of what he wanted to do with his life, but then the allure of law enforcement came calling. Dave pulled up stakes, moved to Chicago, and became a police officer. A long, arduous and often dangerous career followed, as he worked the street in various capacities and eventually got promoted to sergeant and then lieutenant.

After Dave retired, he put himself through Northwestern University’s Center for Public Safety School of Police Staff and Command and is now an adjunct instructor for the university.

Dave serves as a commander with the Bridgeview Police Department and is also an instructor for the Northeast Multi-Regional Training Unit for the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board.
